Celebrate literacy for all

Literacy for All!

Monday, March 3, 2014 is our national Read Across America Day. We invite you to participate in this exciting event by entering our contest to win a free braille book!  Submit a strategy during the month of March 2014 and you will be eligible to win.  The Paths to Literacy Community will determine the winner by voting for the best strategy.  Seedlings Braille Books for Children has generously agreed to donate a book for the contest winner.

Every year the NEA (National Education Association) sponsors Read Across America to promote reading, motivation, and awareness of books. March 2 is Dr. Seuss' birthday, and this program was created to help all of us to honor and celebrate his legacy.   By contributing an activity or strategy to Paths to Literacy, you are helping to empower teachers, parents, and children to make literacy accessible to ALL!

Contest Instructions

You must be a registered user of Paths to Literacy to submit a strategy.  For information on how to submit a strategy, see our Step-by-Step Instructions.  Contact us if you need assistance:
The more that you readThere is no cost to enter the contest, and nothing to purchase in order to be eligible to win.  Simply visit our Registration Page to be eligible to participate and add a new strategy on any aspect of teaching literacy skills to students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities or who are deafblind. You may submit as many strategies as you wish!  We encourage parents and other family members to share ideas too.

Since the winner will be determined by votes, we encourage you to browse the strategies and vote for your favorites.  You may only vote once for each strategy.  You do not have to be a registered user to vote.
There will be one winner for this contest.  All strategies must be submitted by March 31, 2014 at midnight and the Paths to Literacy Community then has two weeks to vote between April 1 and April 15, 2014. The winner will be determined by the greatest number of votes for a single strategy.  The winner will be contacted on April 16, 2014. If the winner does not respond within 5 days, a new winner will be chosen.
Employees of the Training and Educational Resources Program (TERP) at Perkins School for the Blind are not eligible to participate.
Contact us if you have any questions or difficulties uploading your strategy.
