Touch and Learn: A Study of Visually Impaired Children and Tactile Graphics

Research report on use of tactile graphics by children who are blind or visually impaired

This study was done by National Braille Press and Creative Adaptations for Learning in collaboration with with Louisiana Tech’s Institute on Blindness in 2007.  Researchers Edward Bell and Ruby Ryles studied the capabilities and interest in tactile graphics of 73 children with visual impairments.  Parents were asked to complete questions for each of the graphics, post-activity surveys and basic demographic information.
