The field mourns the loss of another icon today with the passing of Abraham Nemeth (October 2, 2013).  Dr. Abraham Nemeth, the scientist who invented the Nemeth Braille Code for Mathematics and Scientific Notation, was a lifelong champion of braille.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Leaders and Legends of the Blindness Field in 2005 for his pioneering work in the field.
For more information about Dr. Nemeth and his groundbreaking braille code, please read The History of the Braille Code: An Interview with Dr. Abraham Nemeth, from the Future Reflections 2009 Special Issue: A Celebration of Braille.
