iOS Accessibility: Teaching the Teachers

Summers trains teachers

Diane Brauner and Ed Summers are committed to training teachers on the use of the iPad and other Apple products with blind and visually impaired students. This article from Future Reflections (Winter 2013) describes their project and the need for TVIs to have increased training in the use of iOS devices as instructional tools.

This video Unlocking the Power of the iPad for the Blind features Ed Summers and Diane Brauner discussing the importance of instructing teachers of the blind and visually impaired on how to use an iPad.

Diane Brauner is a teacher of the visually impaired (TVI) and instructor in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) in North Carolina.  Summers is a software engineer and the head of accessibility at the SAS Institute.
