Make Your Own Toddler Board Book!

Shapes in board book

You can create your own DIY board book using heavy cardboard and sturdy items that can be glued to each page.  Try using real objects, interesting foam shapes, numbers, letters, and textured items.  You can hot glue the outlines of puzzle pieces or formboards, and then invite the child to place the pieces in the puzzle frame.  These books are a fun way to introduce early concepts about different objects, shapes, and sizes!

This activity can be extended by looking at the pages with the child.  For example, "How many circles are on this page?"  "Can you find another one like this?"  "What color is the star?"  "Point to a green one."
