Talking Digital Magnifiers

Talking digital magnifier

Clara Van Gerven writes about talking digital magnifiers in her blog post on the AT Blog at NFB (Assistive Technology Blog at National Federation of the Blind).  She provides an update on some of the ways in which talking digital magnifiers have changed in recent years and looks at how the addition of speech has changed the way that people use them.  She has created a chart comparing the major features of a number of different magnifiers, looking at questions such as:

  • Does it recognize a whole page?
  • What is the screen size?
  • Is there an X-Y tray?
  • Does it have a touch screen?
  • Is it portable?
  • Does it have document/photo storage?
  • What is the price?

We would love to hear from any of you who have tried any of these and let us know how they have worked for you!
