Many individuals use optics of some sort to facilitate access to visual materials.  It is important for the instructor to understand the optics of devices being used; the optics of devices needed; and how to determine optics, distance, and print size to maximize student performance.

At the end of this presentation, attendees will:
  1. Understand the difference between diopters, enlargement factor, and magnification
  2. Be able to identify the magnification of a telescope with no markings
  3. Determine the required size materials needed based on of size of print
  4. Understand the amount of magnification offered by electronic devices
  5. Understand the difference between Galilean and Keplerian telescopes
  6. Apply a variety of formulas to determine best magnification, target size, and reading distance to maximize a student’s access to visual materials.
