Calming Yoyo Meditation

This meditation was learned by a student who is blind and autistic to help her with self-regulation. This is something she can do on her own, in a group, or with the support of an adult.

Background:

Katrina is an 18-year-old student who has very low vision due to Leber Congenital Amaurosis, and also has high functioning autism.

Goals:

The goals of this activity are for Katrina to:

  1. add a new self-calming activity to her self-regulation repertoire, by practicing the activity when she is calm and focused.
  2. use language to describe her feelings (positive as well as negative emotions).
