Pilates as a Literacy Tool for Students with Visual Impairments

Pilates can be a tool to improve literacy skills in students who are blind or visually impaired!

This blog post by Mirea Sharifi of Tucson, Arizona describes how Pilates lessons with a group of students with visual impairments and varying levels of cognitive ability have helped to improve their development in many areas.  Specifically, progress was noted with posture/trunk support, speech and language skills, orientation and mobility, and literacy.  Improved posture helped students to use read braille and use their BrailleNotes more efficiently.
