Abby Diamond, girl detective who is blind

TVI Kristie Smith has created a wonderful array of resources for teachers and children who are blind or visually impaired.  Of special note are the continuing adventures of Abby Diamond, a girl detective who just happens to be blind.  The plots feature moments such as the discovery of an old braille diary in an attic, someone who is leaving behind mysterious notes in braille, and other events that will spark the interest and curiosity of young readers.

Smith also offers numerous books and DVDs related to the education of students with visual impairments, including those who have additional disabilities.  Her materials are activity-oriented and offer practical, hands-on ideas to encourage learning inside and outside the classroom.
