“I Can Connect!” : The New National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program

Overview of the National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program

The National Deaf-Blind Equipment Program (NDBEDP) is a program designed to help people who are deafblind to achieve their distance communication goals, using distance communication technology.  Sending email, surfing the internet, and other types of modern telecommunication are often inaccessible to individuals who have a combined hearing and vision loss.  This program strives to ensure that everyone has access to modern telecommunication tools and the training necessary to use them, granting every individual the opportunity to interact with the world as an involved, contributing member of society. The program provides outreach, assessments, telecommunications technology and training free of charge to those who meet federal eligibility guidelines.
