Texas UEB Transition Plan

Texas has shared their revised transition plan to move from English Braille American Edition (EBAE) code to Unified English Braille (UEB). Educational materials currently available in EBAE will not be converted to UEB and there will be a transition period as new materials become available in UEB. This change is a very significant educational change and will take collaborative planning, extensive statewide training at many levels, and new models for materials development. This UEB implementation plan addresses a coordinated effort to set timelines for the production of printed instructional materials, statewide assessments for students with visual impairments, certification exams for new teachers, and training for current teachers and braille transcribers.

Read the plan.

Does your state have a transition plan to implement UEB?  If so, please let us know, so that we can share it here.
