I am the parent of Dexter Ward, who has bilateral congenital glaucoma. When Dexter was three months we learned that he had congenital glaucoma. He had his first surgery when he was three months old and started wearing glasses at 18 months old.

Conchita Hernandez Legorreta was born in Mexico and grew up in California. She advocates for the rights of blind children and their parents in the public-school setting in the United States and abroad through a lens of intersectionality focusing on social justice.
Lisha has been a TVI (teacher of the visually impaired) for over 25 years. She has worked in the classroom at Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia. Lisha was an itinerant teacher for 18 years at the Montgomery County IU specializing in early intervention.
