Paths to Literacy

for students who are blind or visually impaired

Bea Johnson

I have been a TVI for 17 years. I am also a COMS. I love technology since it can level the playing field. Apple products have done so much for my students. As I write this, my fourth grade student, who is totally blind is proudly finishing up a huge written project using a Mac desktop computer using Voice Over (VO) and Pages. She is so happy! That is what it is all about!

I love to travel, hike, bike and ski. I am grateful to having had the opportunity to volunteer in the past at a No Barriers Summit with Eric Weihenmayer and Mike Mays.

I also dabble in wet felting, a great fiber medium that requires more touch than vision at times.
