Making a Difference One ECC Skill at a Time

Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) provides a framework for instruction in a specialized set of vision-related skills for students who are blind or have a visual impairment. Stacey Chambers is bringing ECC to us in a creative and helpful approach.

For an introduction on ECC begin here.

Meet Stacey Chambers

Stacey Chambers earned her M.Ed. in Visual Disabilities from Vanderbilt University and has been a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments in Texas for 12 years. She is also a consultant with the American Printing House for the Blind, currently helping to update the Sensory Learning Kit and writing an Itinerant Guide for Itinerant Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments. She is passionate about learners with visual and multiple impairments as well as making the ECC (Expanded Core Curriculum) meaningful and fun for learners, educators, and families. The ECC & Me brings this passion to life through an ECC & Me membership for educators and ECC monthly subscription boxes.

Stacey Introduces us to ECC & Me:

As a TVI, I’m extremely passionate about creatively infusing the ECC in all I do. The ECC & Me was born out of a desire to help other teachers and family members do the same. Students with a visual impairment need rigorous, collaborative, and ongoing ECC assessment and instruction. The ECC & Me focuses on one ECC area a month and pushes out tools, resources, materials, and support in the following ways:

ECC & Me Monthly Newsletter: Email newsletter for subscribers each month with lesson ideas and resources to work on the ECC area of the month! Sign up for the newsletter here

Here are the TOP MOST downloaded resources I shared last year in the newsletter:

ECC Club Subscription Boxes: Limited number of braille, large print, and sensorimotor boxes with a book and ECC related crafts/activities sent straight to your door each month! Sign up here!

ECC & Me Membership: Members will receive exclusive downloads, ECC lessons and resources, ECC Club digital books and activities, access to the Video Training Vault on the website (Including Sensorimotor Strategies Course and growing!), and 1:1 Video calls. Learn more here.

It can feel isolating at times as a TVI, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Whether you are a brand new TVI who needs guidance and mentorship in all things TVI, or a seasoned TVI who wants to take their work to the next level and wants a brain partner to do it with, this is the year to make it happen.

TVIs, parents, and teachers can strive to work smarter, more collaboratively, and more efficiently so we can see BIG outcomes for our learners in the ECC!
