September is CVI Awareness Month! in red bubble word

September has been declared CVI Awareness Month!  As the leading cause of visual impairment in children in the United States and other developed countries, teachers, therapists, families, medical professionals, and other members of the community have been trying to raise awareness about this condition.  While all children are different, we offer many strategies for literacy activities and modifications on this website.  In addition, the CVI Hub at Perkins eLearning has links to many useful resources.

Here are some places to get started:

Brenda Biernat of Start Seeing CVI has been a strong advocate for her son, who has cortical visual impairment, and she is working tirelessly to raise awareness of the needs of children with CVI.

April is CVI Literacy Awareness month.  See these resources that are specific to the needs of students with cortical visual impairment for literacy instruction.

Use the hashtag #CVIAwareness to help to spread the word!
