Caroline’s Golden Pinwheel Gift

An opportunity to receive a BaseKit for children with CVI to honor a special little girl. Learn more about her and the BaseKit.

In the five years it’s taken us to develop, test, and distribute the BaseKit for kids with cortical/cerebral visual impairment (CVI), we almost lost focus on WHY we were doing all this. But then we saw the results with students, families, and teams who used the BaseKit. One of the most inspiring of these …was Caroline.

Caroline was one-year-old when she came into my life. Among other serious medical conditions, Caroline had a stroke during that first year of life resulting in CVI. We shipped a BaseKit to Caroline’s mom. Her family and therapists had hours of joy playing with Caroline through the BaseKit toys. Caroline’s favorite was the golden pinwheel.

Caroline died in September 2024. Her mom thanked us for the big part the BaseKit played in giving her daughter a beautiful life. To honor Caroline, we are establishing Caroline’s Golden Pinwheel Gift.

Every year on her birthday, March 5th, VistaQuest will gift another child with CVI. This gift may be a BaseKit, a personal training session, or a custom trail guide. We hope this gift will generate even the smallest breath of progress, and move the pinwheel to bring beauty and change to another child.
