Cracking a Raw Egg

3-minute video created to teach individuals with visual impairments to crack a raw egg using step-by-step instructions

This 3-minute video was created to teach individuals with visual impairments to crack a raw egg using step-by-step instructions.  It includes tips for individuals with low vision to use contrasting materials, such as a dish towel that is a different color from the egg dish.  It also offers tips to organize and secure materials, to keep them from slipping.  Learning to crack an egg safely and hygenically is an important part of many cooking activities and a helpful skill for independent living.

Use this activity as an extension to cooking activities, in which students practice reading recipes and following the directions.
