Braille Printer Made Out of Legos

7th grader has created a low-cost braille printer using Lego Mindstorms EV3.

7th grader Shubham Banerjee is a 12-year old boy from Santa Clara, California who has developed BRAIGO, a low-cost braille printer using Lego Mindstorms EV3.  Braille printers typically cost at least $2,000, just for a basic model, but this version can be made for less than $350.  Motivated by a desire to make braille printers more affordable, particularly for people in developing countries,  Banerjee wishes to make this project open source with the design and software readily available for public consumption free of charge.
