My name is Sophia Pea, and I am a Special Education Teacher currently pursuing a degree in Deaf Education. Four years ago, I had the opportunity to work with a student who is Deafblind, which inspired me to learn braille and various techniques to support individuals’ unique needs. This experience opened up a whole new world for me, and I never imagined I would find myself in this position today.

One of the most rewarding projects I worked on was the “Charlotte’s Web” project. It was unique because the student able to follow along with the story through touch, making it accessible for the student. Not only was it engaging, but it also included great representations—such as spinning the web, brailled words from the story, and using fine motor skills. The project was interactive and aligned well with what the students learned from the book. I truly enjoyed this experience, and I hope you do too!
