Heather L. Barnett is a Teacher of Students with Blindness and/or Low Vision, certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist, and Braille Literacy Specialist with over 15 years of experience in public and private educational settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University, along with credentials in Visual Impairments, Orientation and Mobility, Multiple Subject Teaching, and Assistive Technology.
Her work is grounded in a commitment to transformative and equitable education, with a focus on early intervention, literacy access, and inclusive practices for students with cortical/cerebral visual impairment (CVI), deafblindness, and multiple disabilities. Heather has supported children from infancy through young adulthood through highly individualized instruction and family-centered services.
In addition to direct service, Heather engages in contract-based training and consultation, providing case-based professional learning and technical assistance to educators and service providers. She is a passionate advocate for systemic change and believes education must be a force for equity, access, and meaningful inclusion for learners who are blind and/or low vision.
