I have been a teacher in the area of special education for 25 years. I have been a TVI for the past 2 years. I work in both early intervention and in the public school system. I myself am legally blind. I have been since birth…congenital ONH due to Rubella. I am a strong believer in braille literacy. This is mostly due to the fact that I was taught only in print medium (large print….when they had it). I now am working on becoming a dual media reader. Learning to read braille by touch is proving to be very difficult as an adult. I have much less of a problem with reading braille visually (when magnified with a CCTV).
