Edith West is a TVI (teacher of students with visual impairments) who started as a braille transcriber in the Sacramento area of California. With a background in art and education, it makes perfect sense why Edith naturally was able to put her talents into braille art design for her students.
Here first braille art design was a Christmas tree for a student and then came Valentine’s Day and it kept going from there. It gave her students an opportunity to be creative and motivated by practicing their braille skills.
Edith wants other teachers to enjoy learning and teaching braille the way she does and not be intimidated by it. She shares her talents with others as a way to contribute to the vision community that she loves.
As Edith is starting her next adventure by retiring from being a TVI, it was a perfect opportunity to thank her for all the wonderful braille art designs.
